●花冠に入会希望のO氏に電話した。入会理由を聞いていなかったので、そのために電話したのだ。彼は俳壇でそこそこ地位があって、俳壇事情に詳しいらしく、いろいろ聞かせてくれた。私は俳壇には、ちょっと指がかかっている程度が一番いいのではないかと思っているので、花冠で大丈夫かと思っている。
私は「上手」と言う価値に重きを置いていない。どれだけ、俗から離れ詩心があり、自分らしいかが一番面白い価値だと思っている。それは俳句の素材と、使う言葉、リズムなどから感じられることだ。
聖武天皇と光明皇后の娘の孝謙天皇が、2度目に称徳天皇として即位したとき、光明皇后の支配から離れ、彼女は生まれ変わって自分の考える政治を行ったようだ。そばに吉備真備や道教がいたというが。たしかに、よい導きは必要。
せっかく、独りになっているのだから、自分の考え通りにさせてもらいたい、と思いながら電話を聞いていた。世に名が知れていないのは、自由であるという大きなメリットがある。彼は察したのか、私の考えで選をしてくれてよい、と返事をくれたので、電話を切った。そして、また「続けてくださいよ。」と言ってくれた。
●英訳俳句を印刷して見直した。今日は３月９日、１０日に貼り付けてある、春の句と、夏の句を差し替えた。オリジナルの英語俳句や翻訳英語俳句に見られる多くのパターンに、文として自立していない弱点があるのではと思う。下手をすると片言ではないのかと思うことがある。日本は日本、アメリカはアメリカでいいのだが。個人的には、「文法的に文として成り立つように、それでいて、省略して、詩として成り立つよう」にすることは必須と思う。その観点で英訳を見直す。
